One of the best reminders that an election season is upon us is when our mailboxes start filling up with political mail. With all this clutter and information overload, it’s easy to see why the standard rule is that a mail piece has 3 seconds to get its message across… if the viewer can’t tell who the candidate is and what they’re running for in that amount of time, the piece has failed. When designing political mail, I take into consideration the immense amount of other noise that occurs during election season. I work to ensure the piece is eye catching enough to stand out among all the chaos, sway the voter, and compel them to act.
